How do you replace the battery for a 2003 jetta key?

How to Replace a battery in a 2003 VW Jetta 1.8L?

  • I need to replace the battery in my VW jetta and it appears to be a little bit trickier then most standard batteries. can anyone help me?

  • Answer:

I dont know why you say its trickier. you go out and buy a new battery, open up your hood, unhook the old battery, take it out, drop in the new one, and hook it up. elaborate on how its trickier, cuz i have a 97 jetta gls. and typically batteries last a long time. did you replace it and its still not working? if thats the case than you probably have a problem with your alternator. please edit your post to let me know as i am extremely curious

its not that hard, i got a 1.8t too and the battery is in a black box on the bottom right corner. in the middle of lid of the box there is a smaller box. that is were the fuses are so dont move that, just flip the big lid to the back and you will see that battery. from there you should know how.... remember black is negative and red is positive.
