How do you do an air reverse?

VW Polo reverse gear does it affect speed of fan or air con?

  • I find in my VW Polo 53 plate, that when i reverse and the fan or air con is on it speeds up and sounds as if it's about to take off.

    This is a characteristic of this model... Try the same on another model the same... I invesigated this ''problem'' when they 1st came out... Standard ''feature'' lol The other thing they do if you have on front wipers and select reverse rear wiper sweeps to clear rear window, clever eh? Tango is full of it!

When any car travels forward, air passes through the front grille directly onto the radiator. When the car stops at traffic lights etc. the electrical fan engages due to the thermostat operating as the water gets hotter and no air coming through the front. The same happens when you put the car in reverse gear, no air passes through the front because you are going backwards, the water gets hotter, the thermostat registers and the fan operates.
