Whats the diff. between the 2001 Volkswagen Passat GLS and 2001 Volkswagen Jetta Gls Turbo Auto Sedan?

Am planning to buy a volkswagen but they look exactly the same , i dont know so much about cars i just want to know the diff.. and which one should i consider a little more.

The passat is an Audi and has a North/ South engine layout and the jetta is a New Beetle/Golf chassis with and East/ West engine layout. I know the TT is also a Golf Chassis too and it is always referred to as a VW just as the Passat is always called an Audi- In maintenance circles and parts world.
