Does the new Volkswagen beetle have the engine in the front or back?

Please help with cooling tin on a 1970 Type I Volkswagen Beetle engine?

  • I am rebuilding a 1970 Type I Volkswagen Beetle engine. When I took the engine apart there was only one air deflector on the right side of the engine underneath the cylinders and above the push rod tubes. Should there also be one on the other side of the engine?

  • Answer:

There should be one on each side. These deflect the air to the rear two cylinder heads.

Yes, I own a 1970 type 3 square back and a 68 type 1 bug. They both are present. Good luck

Yes, there should be one on both sides. they help blow the air accost the bottom of the cylinders.

barritnow

yes there should be on the other side. A lot of people leave these off but it reduces some of the cooling efficiency
