Will 2009 VW Rabbit 2dr cost more in insurance than Rabbit 4dr?

2009 VW Jetta, Jetta Sportwagon, or Rabbit?

  • Hey everyone, I see now that the 2009 VW line-up has three great car competing for love, and I want your opinion on which one you like the most. So I am asking everyone, which do you like the most, minus the TDI option that deserves it's own question. Which one is coolest, most customizable, etc. If you can also help, I am considering buying one of these as my first car in three years, off lease. In your opinion, which would be best? My school consists of many VW drivers with used Passat's and Jetta's. Which would be best in winter? If I get the Wagon, I have to get the panoramic sunroof, lol. I also will customize the car, lightly, to make her my own. Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Answer:

Coolest is what's cool to you. Are you cutomizing for your taste or for other's tastes? You can customize each to your hearts content since most body and interior parts will bolt on to the Jetta-Golf. The passat is nicer but there's no TDI in the US. The Jetta GLI is fastest and it can have the sport interior and comes with HID headlights and is the fastest. And if you want to modify it, it has the most potential for power. The Jetta TDI and wagon are best if you plan on keeping the car a long time or if you drive a lot. After the $1300 tax credit, you are only paying about $700 over a 2.5L engine Jetta. If you want a TDI and want a review, invoice price, etc., see here: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q_how_to/a5/jettachecklist.htm Resale on a TDI is also much better than on a gasser. The rabbit is the same as a Jetta from the rear seat forward. It's a hatchback instead of a sedan. The GTI rabbit is basically the same as a Jetta GLI.

2009 VW GTi for sure, if you want speed w/ the new TFSI 2.0T 200hrspwr and 207fpt. you have the 6spd paddle shifters or 6spd manual too. I got one 4 mnths ago, rides real smooth. Or you could get a Wolfsburg edition 2.0T Jetta. Its slightly cheaper than the GLi's. Hope that helps, I just like my turbonetics.. Good luck!

maespace

since VW cars tend to be unreliable, i would be unlikely to buy any of them... unless i got the TDI option, in which case i'd like the sportwagon just for the extra space ti gives.

hello

Tough call. Since their FWD I'd pretty much hate them all eventually. I guess I'd go with the Turbo Rabbit....but even then only starting with 200hp would annoy me real quick...plus it isn't strong enough to raise the boost without a bunch of supporting mods.

Whoever said raising the boost on a 2.0t without supporting mods is really unreliable has no idea what they are talking about. A chipped 2.0t can give you anywhere from 240-260hp, and thats a lot and it can do it reliably. But to answer the question, the jetta, rabbit, and jetta sportwagen are pretty much all the same cars built on the same chassis, they have mostly all the same engines as well as extra features. It all depends on how many number of doors you want, and which trim levels you choose to go with.
