Can you get the Hydra-Matic Six-Speed Automatic Transmission on the 5.3L?

01 jetta transmission doesnt get out of park after accident.?

  • I was in a car accident and ever since my transmission doesnt want to get out of park.I dont think my transmission is damaged i beleive it's something electrical with the car does anyone know what can cause a jetta's transmission not to get out of park that's electrical like the brake switch etc.etc.etc.....Is there a manual of electrical components that i can find that work with the transmission my car is a 01 JETTA GLX 2.8 VR6 AUTOMATIC.

    there is a recall on the brake light switches called a N4 recall. The brake light switch malfunctions and doesn't tell the ecm that you have the brake pedal depressed causing the shifter to stay in park. i don't know if you had the switch replaced or not but try there first by taking it to a vw dealer. im not saying that is the problem but it is a lot better thatn getting a new tranny :)

I would definatly check the brake switch, cheap enough to replace... if not that then the silinoid under the gear shift. I have a diagram but am unable to paste it here, sorry.

I would suggest the Library and see if they have the factory manual for your car. Fastest way would be to have a pro come over and fix you up Find one who knows VW. It's probably no big deal to find your problem
