What is the fuse number for the radio in a Volkswagen Passat 1999?

I just bought a 1999 Volkswagen Passat, radio troubles, please help!?

  • I just bought the car today, and i am pretty certain its the stock radio, however on the radio there is a place to put in tapes. But there is a CD button, but theres nowhere to put CD's? Am i just missing it, or is there no CD player?

Hey I had the SAME problem! I just got my passat yesterday! I asked a question on Yahoo as well and one person told me to check in the trunk on the left side there is a secret compartment. Mine was marked with a green cross thing. Undo the hinges and Wah-La! 6 disc changer! = ) = ) OR another person told me to click the CD button and if it says "no changer" or something like that, you don't have one installed in your passat because it was an option back then. Hope I helped!! = )

The CD button is to switch over to the CD changer. If you have one, its likely mounted in the trunk.

if you have a single din radio with a shelf then you can remove the shelf and install the cd player in place of the shelf but you need to find a factory cd player and the vw discontinued production of them from the factory. i would try ebay or junk yard.

You can also plug in a factory CD changer in the panel on the left side in the trunk. Simple plug and play. Check out fleabay, or vwvortex.com, someone may have one for sale.

CD player is a separate unit mounted above the head unit.
