What is the difference between the VW Golf and the VW Gti?

Difference between VW Golf and Golf GTI?

Is there a difference between the VW Golf and Golf GTI? Is the GTI just a different/additional name for the car, or does the GTI have some added features (and if so, what)?

It's the same car... I just checked the Volkswagon website. Cuz I been wondering the same thing for a while lol. Edit: But wait there's the Rabbit... WTF?!!

The GTI is more sporty (has sport seats, suspension etc.) Alos GTI comes with VR6 engine where golf usually comes 4 cylinder.

I guess it depends where you live. In America we have the Rabbit and the GTI and the R32. Rabbit has a 2.5l motor the GTI has a 2.0l motor with a turbo. The GTI is a sportier car all around and has quite a few options that arent avaliable on the Rabbit. But the Rabbit only needs regular unleaded and costs about $8000 less.
