Clifford alarm HELP!!?

99' VW Beetle Alarm Malfunction !'Help?? '!?

  • I got my car 2 days ago, & I found out it had n alarm just yesterday. The car automatically shuts itself dwn when I try 2 start it. After waiting awhile it would reset its alarm(indicated by blinking light next 2 lock)& I tried it again, & the alarm sounded. Causing me 2 wait 4 it 2 finish, & the alarm reset itself right away. I do not have a press button 2 turn it off, as I found it was turned off by locking the driverside door, & then unlocking it causing the alarm 2 disarm(blinking light stops).So there it works! But just last night, I tried 2 start the car after the alarm had been set, it shut itself dwn, & when it reset itself again, I locked it, then unlocked it 2 disarm the alarm, but it didnt disable!! So, I tried 2 start the car, & the alarm sounded. I again, waited for it 2 reset itself, & tried 2 lock then unlock, & the alarm light went off. I tried 2 start it, but it just keeps shutting itself dwn, & it keeps resetting the alarm, & I disable it, & it still shuts itself dwn!

    It's the immobilizer. It can be reset with Vag-com software, that a VW enthusiast might have, or the dealer definitely has. You can also try reseting the ECU by removing the positive battery cable for a few minutes.

hi you have to take the car back have them look into it . could be a fast fix give them a call first

sounds like your driver lock is the problem....there is a micro switch in the door lock.....try to think of it like this....if you were the car....and you didn't see the driver door open....then someone try to start the car..............the alarm will go off!...watch the blicking light on the driver door. it should go off when you UNLOCK the door. If not, the car is still armed and the alarm will go off......good luck
