How will you fit for this job?

Will a carb from a 1500 vw beetle engine fit and to be up to the job of running a 1600 twin port engine?

  • hi all i have a 1500 vw beetle single port engine which i have just upgraded to a 1600 twin port. i know i have to buy a twin port inlet manifold now but will the old carb from the 1500 engine fit the new twin port manifold and will it be up to the job? ( by the way the old carb is a sloex pict 30-2 if that helps) many thanks adam

  • Answer:

you will need an adapter as the single port carb will be slightly smaller and wont bolt to the manifold be i would recommened buying a 34 pict for the dual post engine will have better reponse and more top end power.

The old carb will work just fine. You may not get the maximum top end power out of it, but unless you are flooring it all the time, there will be no problem. You will need an adapter plate, but it is only $15.

It is different. You will see. Just cheaper to buy a carb that fits the manifold right off. A 1500 and a 1300 swap around OK 1600 is by itself
