  If you are actually trying to take the "Key" portion of the keyfob, it's pretty simple. Follow these steps (You will need a very small screwdriver, like a watch repair tool, or maybe a ball point pen, and a pair of needle-nosed plyers - you will see what I mean): 1) Extend your key (press the button) 2) Depress the button, and begin putting the key back - stop when the key is at a 90 degree angle to the fob (the actual degree of the angle doesn't matter, this is not an engineering or geometry test) - read on: 3) You will see a small "dot" or "indentation" on either side of the metal bracket (silver) between the key and the black plastic of the key fob. this is a small pin - somewhat like those that hold a watch band to the body of the watch face. You need to push this out of the key from one side or another - this is why you need something tiny and stiff, like a watch repair screwdriver. You may need to use the needle-nose plyers to pull the pin out once it starts to come out the opposite side, as sometimes, they are in there really tight - obviously so, as this is what holds the key in the holder 4) DON'T LOSE THE PIN - VW Most likely doesn't stock, or sell separately, this pin (although, if you lose it, you can ask) 5) Once the pin is out, you should be able to just pull the key part out of the holder. Once out, you will see the grove where the pin fits when the key is in place. Replacement is reverse - make sure the pin is all the way in, or the key will get caught and not close or extend smoothly. Hope that helps!
