What's better a Garrett turbo or a Green?

Whats pros and cons of turbo and non turbo supra?

  • Whats the pros and cons of a TT or single turbo supra in terms of repairs and cots for parts? Or is a non turbo better? oviously turbos are faster but is there anything that can make a non turbo faster than non turbo other than intake and exhaust? Or is getting a turbo kit too expensive?

  • Answer:

you need to look at reviews of it for this info. i had a turbo once and the rest of the engine and drive train was the normal componants and couldn't handle the turbo power. had to replace the trans 3 times.

Stock vs Stock you're talking about 320hp vs 240. Yes you could go N/A (naturally aspirated) and get more power out of it than the turbo but.... You'd need to upgrade internals. Cams, camshaft, timing, intake, ECU, exhaust...... I've seen Supra's with a little over 400hp and N/A and they were pretty sweet. Still... for me there's no substitute for the spinning and whistling of a turbo accompanied by the roar of the I-6

Turbos require extra maintenance and generate a lot of excessive heat under the hood I would suggest supercharging. Depending on the year of your car, TRD, Toyota's aftermarket division, make superchargers for Toyota engines. They also make stainless performance exhaust systems. Superchargers don't have "turbo lag", don't generate heat and don't cause any extra servicing. They're also more engine friendly; Check out TRD on line, or Toyota Dealers have TRD parts lists. I had a TRD supercharger installed on my 1999 Tacoma V6. It added 50 extra horses of smooth power and torque. HP went from 195 to 245.

The cost of repair is higher for turbo, but you already know that. The Toyota's run like the energizer bunny, they just keep going! I wouldn't fear the cost of repairs, these are solid motors and great cars! I would avoid 3rd party turbo kits, not when you can get the right car for you. It's now all a matter of spending the extra bucks for a Turbo Supra. I've driven both, and if you like the feel of your heart pounding in your chest, go for the Turbo! The non Turbo is great, but it looses the acceleration after 100.
