Can you replace a Toyota Mr2 engine from 1994 with a Toyota Celica engine of the same number and year?

yes you can. my buddy had a turbo mr2 and blew the motor up and needed to replace it. he put in the 5sfe and had to switch the tranny out but it fit.

Probably not as one is mounted transverse in the front, and the other is mounted mid-engine (behind the seat) which means the accessories on the engine are in a different place for clearance. (don't know for SURE, but that's my guess)

no go joe your mr2 sw20 series came out with a 3sge or 3sgte the st 180 series celica were fitted with a 5sfe the same familey put to replace a 3sge with a 5sfe no you would be better looking for another sw20 series mr2 and putting the same engine back or if you search the importers you might find a 3sgte which is the turbo version of your motor best of luck
