2001 Toyota Tacoma: Ignition won't turn/start when clutch is pushed in. Only starts when clutch is disabled.
-
-2001 Toyota Tacoma 4WD 2.7L -Standard (manual) transmission -Battery is alive -No sound when turning key normally with clutch pressed to the floor -Starts only when "Clutch Cancel" button is activated I had my car off for a few minutes (I went to the store) and when I tried to turn it on again, there was no sound whatsoever when I turned my key all the way. The battery showed no signs of being low (lights, radio, etc. came on). There was no clicking either. As a last ditch effort I pressed the "Clutch Cancel" button, and then turned the key. The engine started completely normally at that point and I was able to drive home. Got home and tried a normal (clutch) start again and it didn't work. Anyone know what's wrong? Thanks so much!

Answer:
the switch on your clutch pedal has failed, you pretty much found your own problem! Too bad most cars don't have that majic button
