What's the start of the Whistler season like snow-wise?

93 Toyota Corolla 200K, Auto tranny, drive tires seem like they are slipping on start up, whats going on?

  • From a standing start, in gear, the first 6 or 8 feet, it feels like the drive tires (front wheel drive) are slipping a little. After I'm moving it doesn't seem to happen. If I start off gently, it doesn't happen. I don't have to romp on it, but a typical traffic light start will do it. Is the Tranny bad? Torque converter? Drive axles? Will it get worse? Or, make the transmission not work at all eventually? Do I need a new transmission, rebuild, or what?

  • Answer:

First thing is to have the alignment checked and then the condition of the tires. Get a tire rotation to see if it makes a difference. If all that comes up negative, it sounds like you've got a more expensive problem.
