Lift kit for 2001 tacoma quad cab prerunner?

  • I have a 2001 tacoma 4 door prerunner (same as TRD 4x4 minus the 4 wheel drive capability) I wanted to do the 2.5 inch front lift spacer for the fron coils but am not sure about the rear if it will sit too low or too hig? can anyone give me some suggestions? thanks.

you need something like this. http://www.offroadunlimited.com/orustore/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=1051&idproduct=16000 it's a 2wd/4wd kit. comes with extended rear shackles. which is much better than spacers back there. spacers move the rear end farther away from the springs. than gives the housing more leverage and creates axle wrap. not good. impacts ring/pinion over time and doesn't help with traction at a crawl. w/o the rear lift shackles, you and your lights will be starring at the sky a little. head light adjustment may not compensate. at 2.5 you're at the break point. may or may not need longer travel shocks. also, keep tabs on the brake lines front and rear for good length. e-brake cable in back as well. i jack it up to full extension, checking them as you go. hand fab e-brake cable drop bracket. the brake hoses may need longer ones or drop brackets for those to. and the load proportioning valve rod for your brakes off the diff will need adjustment as well. then you will need an alignment when all is done. i suggest a 4 way. good luck. have fun! owner 93 toy pu 4x4 3" lift, 88 toy pu 4x4 6" lift, 56 willeys pu 4x4 oem.
