First generation lexus ls400 and first gen toyota avalon?

was the toyota avalon inspired by the lexus ls400? i was browsing the picture and both of them are closely similar to each other when it comes to the design except for the emblem. and the lexus is more money. soo i was thinking if i buy a toyota avalon would i get the same or close when it comes to the features of the lexus ls400? thank you.

no. The 1st gen Avalon was a widened Camry - intended for the "Buick" market. It is a soft low end luxury car. It has front wheel drive and a V6. The 1st gen LS400 was a shot at Mercedes Benz; a bit more than a E class, not quite a S class. It is fast, incredibly smooth, high end performance luxury sedan. It has rear wheel drive and a V8. The Avalon has more room inside and will get better fuel economy, but is lacking in features and refinement.
