Answer:
There are two problems that can develop with a 2003 Camry.A relative has one so I researched this while working on other problems. The cylinder head bolts come loose and the catalytic converter fails.Toyota can reprogram the computer for the catalytic converter problem but the head bolts are random.Another small problem is the automatic shift lever not working.A burned out brake bulb causes the interlock to activate. There is an overide button on the shift lever under a cover. The a/c button will start flashing this is a compressor clutch relay under the hood.A generic relay will work the Toyota brand is what caused the failure. If the car is sold as-is without a warranty then the price should be lower.Have you noticed all the major floods every year in America? They should sign over the piece of junk to you for nothing.

Take it to a mechanic and have it inspected. Pep Boys has this service available. If the dealer will not let you do this then RUN away. A simple $79 inspection at Pep Boys will tell you everything that is wrong with the car before you spend $5250 on it. If the car has problems at least you will know about it and be able to make a decision about purchasing it. You can also use the inspection report to get $$$ off of the car from the dealer. So it can pay for itself.

Yes, my suggestion is NOT to buy it. It has a recall for the airbags as seen here: http://www.allworldauto.com/recalls/2003_TOYOTA_CAMRY_recalls_202-983-2003-1.html It has 49 service bulletins as seen here: http://www.allworldauto.com/tsbs/2003_TOYOTA_CAMRY_technical_service_bulletins_202-983-2003-1.html The Service bulletins are things that Toyota ADMITS are defective in but will charge YOU to fix their design flaws. It is being investigated by the government for 4 things as seen here: http://www.allworldauto.com/inv/2003_TOYOTA_CAMRY_investigations_202-983-2003-1.html And has 400 complaints as seen here: http://www.allworldauto.com/comments/2003_TOYOTA_CAMRY_comments_and_complaints_202-983-2003-1.html Please be good to you and your family and don't buy a Toyota product.... .
