How do you find vacuum leak on a 91 pontiac grand am?

Whats a halfway easy way to find a vacuum leak on my Maxima?

  • Ive been asking before thinking it was a fuel problem. a friend ran their scan tool and it was all vac codes. they mentioned running smoke through the line. my car wont start so i dont know if that would work. also is a vacuum leak enough to keep a car from starting?!?!

    yes a severe vac . leak can keep a car from running if it wont start at all lookk all thru the engine and bay at all the little hoses you must have some that are cracked, broken, split, replace all bad ones they are cheap. then see what happens, a lot of these go to sensors the car cant run with out certain ones working

Certin cars have issues please include miles and year model manual auto trans and some back ground information like my car when it used to run did this before and after it won't start it does this. my car cranks over or does not turn over

with a suspected vac leak I like to have someone watch the tach while I carefully spray carb cleaner around each line. If the needle jumps that's the leak. But if it doesn't start the prob's deeper.
