Changing the battery and low rpm when starting the engine?

  • Hi guys, how r u? I am seeking your advice for my problem I have japanese car (nissan sunny 1.3 L fuel injection) I changed the battery and after that when I start the engine the rpm goes below 1000 and the engine looks like it will stop then it stables at 1000 Before changing the battery, that does not happen why is that? any idea?? your help is appreciated

  • Answer:

I have no idea why a new battery would have suddenly changed your car's RPM and this is some thing new to me, but never the less there is an adjustment where by you could increase or decrease accordingly to where you want your car's RPM to stabilised, so there is no problems at all, just adjust it. This situation is not that technical and very straight forward, if your revs are slightly out, which you are stressing then you do not have to spend any money at all.

Either you electronic idle speed control will learn or you may have to take it to Nissan to preform an idle air relearn procedure. If the idle is more than 75 RPM out of range that may set a P0500 ISC code. DO not mess about with the throttle stops or Throttle posistion sensor. Good Luck
