Why is my Nissan Maxima still taking so long to start?

1990 nissan maxima wont start?

  • My daughter 1990 nissan maxima wont start, it turns over but it want start so far this is what I did: change air & fuse filter, new spark plugs and wires, new coil, change maf, check the battery, check distributor, change rotor and got ignition module check, the car is getting fuel and fire. I check the fuses and i check ecu for codes and it came back code 55. the security light blink when i turn the car on. I do not know what to do now. Took it to nissan, tire kingdom and 2 mechanic look at it and no cod came back.. Original the car was running fine then it start clicking off when we stop at the light then it will start right back up. Last week the car just did not start up no more. i do not know what to check for next.

    Better have the timing belt checked on painted valve cover cars VG-30 motor. On the 24 valve Twin Cam motor has aluminum valve covers and a timing chain. Security light turn and hold the key to unlock 2 seconds in either drs door lock or trunk lock then try to start (security light shound not be on)

Do you think the security light has anything to do with it? And if not, what is code 55? Try to find out what that code is, it might direct you in the right direction. And remember, a car needs air too, not just fire and fuel. Have the fuel rail pressure checked, make sure the pump is good. Also, check all the obvious stuff like fluids, etc. Some vehicles won't start if they detect low coolant, or something else that could damage the engine. Maybe that code 55 is a bad sensor that is telling the engine not to start.
