  • hi, I just replaced the crankshaft position sensor of my 2002 nissan Altima because the service light came on, I took it to autozone for a scan and was the crankshaft sensor code. so I replaced and the car started with out problem. Now my question is if I have to change the Camshaft sensor too? I heard that both sensors work together. so please if someone can help me, I dont want to run my car like that if its need a new camshaft sensor replace too or I can run my car just with one replaced

  • Answer:

Isn't that crank sensor fun to get to and release the electrical connector and replace that sensor on the back side of the motor? ECM has to see the crank turning to fire the coils. Also ECM see the intake camshaft to fire the injectors. Either will set a code. A Nissan ECM reprogram allows the ecm to take either signal to preform both tasks. That reflash addresses engine stalling issue.
