Why doesn't a Nissan truck run smooth in overdrive?

2002 nissan xterra supercharge??

  • i am looking to buy a 2002 nissan xterra but the timing belt went and damaged the motor in it...so as of now the xterra doesnt run and needs a new motor.the guy told me to make him an offer for it the way it is now....question is how much would be a reasonable offer without ripping the guy off???the xterra is a 3.3 supercharged as well.so the motor will cost a heck of alot more...the suv overall is in good shape.can someobody help me make an offer asap?thanks 48 minutes ago - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details 31 minutes ago the guy still has $20, 000 cad, into paying for the truck but he realizes he is gonna lose out on this and is willing to just get rid of it...he says anything will help

    35K for a motor Wow! that's a certified tech talking? Motors are not cheap nor is the labor to replace them call a dealer and get a quote I would say a 3.3 supercharged motor would be in the 5-6000 dollar range installed Buy another Xterra Hell I will sell you my 06 for 17000

I'd see what it would cost for a new motor and then subtract that from it's value, minus a little more for your trouble.

For a new remanufactured engine you're looking at about $35k. You could call around to salvage yards and see if they have one. That would be your cheapest route.
