What is a reasonable price?

What is a reasonable asking price for a 1989 Nissan PU? It needs minor body and mechanical work.?

  • I am the original owner. The truck is a standard 5-speed, 4-cylinder with air conditioning. The body has no dents, but does need a replacement key lock on the passenger side door. The speedometer needle broke off, the fuel filler hose leaks, and the tension on the hood release needs to be adjusted. The interior itself is clean with a couple of rips. The engine is very good. It will start right up and runs very smoothly. I really want to get $1500 for it and would put a $2000 price sign on it to get it to the $1500 "dream" price. Based on the above information, is the price I want too high? If so, what would be a reasonable price to get for the truck?

  • Answer:

If it has no rust, ask 1500 and take 1000. But go to a junkyard and buy the parts it needs. It will cost $30 and would keep buyers from turning away. If you have rust, you should take 750. What matters most is how much of a hurry you are in to sell it. Don't forget to post on Craigslist.
