How much to fix or buy an alternator for a 1993 nissan sentra?

  • I think that my alternator is going in my car becuase it keeps draining my battery. How much will it cost approximately, to have it fixed, or to buy a new one?

    $150-200 with core not that hard. test it first, it could be a number of other accessories draining the battery-like a faulty radio start the car at night turn on headlights rev the engine if the light brighten then fade with engine revs- replace alternator

the only way an alternator can drain a battery is if one or more of the 4 diodes in it are cracked. If you want to rebuild you alternator,,which I advize over getting a rebuilt one,,then look in the yellow pages.

depending! buying it! aftermarket: about 160$ original: more than 160$ fixing it! the cost varies by workshop.. but not all the workshop will get to fix such alternator.. they will tell you to buy a new one ^_^!

By one cheap at you local wreakers.. I had a ute that every morning I would start it the battery was flat. Replaced the battery then month after that it started going flat also. One night I notced that the glove box light was always on due to a small glow I could see. Removed the bulb and that fixed that drama.. I had a alternator fail once and the lights would do dull and the engine would miss and flood, not enough power produced from the alternator to run the car and also flatened the battery
