What do i need to change my rear struts?

What all do I need to buy to change out my struts on 2002 Nissan Sentra?

  • Basically what will I need and what kind of struts, is there any thing that goes with it? I know hardly anything about cars! LOL any ifo would be greatly appreciated! thanks

    I beg you to not try to do this. It will take you all day and you'll still need to get realignment done by an expert afterwards. Go to the library and read Chilton's Auto Repair manual- the issue that covers your car. It will tell you how to do it, and I hope you change your mind. If you were an "old hand" at working on cars, I wouldn't treat you with all this negativity. I've done every kind of car repair including completely overhauling engines and I can tell you, changing struts is just a big pain in the butt and well worth paying someone else to do it who can do it right and not waste time. besides that, you do not have the tools you need.

By the time you purchase a floor jack and 4 stands and rent a spring compressor and buy the necessary sockets and wrenches you could of had Sears install a set of four monroe Sens-a-Track struts. Not knowing all the parts and how to replace them could get dangerious. Most time you will need to realign the front suspension when done. Good Luck

You'll need a spring compressor, which will cost you at least as much as the labor for having these replaced by a proper mechanic. (This is seriously hazardous work.)
