Is a 2003 Nissan Altima with high mileage of 175miles a good car?
-
Hi, I need someone to help me out here. I am thinking of buying a nissan altima with 175k miles or 280km for $6000 including taxes, the car is very clean in and out and i like it but the mileage is a bit high, is this a good deal with this mileage. Are nissan's good cars to buy with a high mileage? Also will I be able to sell the car once i am done with it in a few years? Please someone help me here, or give me advice on nissan's or any other better car.

Answer:
175,000 is high miles for 4 CLY engine and the V-6 would be only about 1/2 way worn at that miles. 2003 are already 6 model years old so money at trade time with 250,000 miles forget about that.

175k miles is alot for any car. For $6k your selection should be pretty broad with slow down of car sales.

I own a 2003 nissan altima with 60k miles. It might last a while if you take real good care of it, but to be sure of that you'd have to have a mechanic do a VERY thorough inspection of the car, especially the transmission, the car might be mechanically perfect but trannies are usually the first things to go on cars with that many miles. But I think $6000 is really high for a car with so many miles, I wouldn't give any more then $4000 for it, considering I paid $7800 for mine, according to KBB.com you car is worth $6800 if it is in excellent condition. They say mine is worth $10.500. I still think $6k is too much though Nissan's have been known to last about 250k to 300k, so depending on your driving habits you may be able to squeeze quite a few years out of that car if you take real good care of it, and depending on how much you drive and how well you plan to maintain the car. I figure you maybe able to at least squeeze 5 years out of that car My advice to you, if a Nissan Altima is what you really want, try going to autotrader.com and see if you can find a better deal for a similar amount of money. If you're hell bent on this particular altima and $6000 is all you have I say go for it. Nissan Altima's are really awesome cars. They're great on gas and a lot of fun to drive. Good luck in your decision
