Why is my Nissan Maxima still taking so long to start?

1990 Nissan Maxima wont start after running for a while?

  • this car was given to me about a month ago, changed the spark plugs, distributor, alternator, and one fuel injetor. then i had it shipped here, drove it for 3 days and noticed sometimes when i would start it, it would have a grinding type of noise, not all the time just sometimes. and also the would be about a half second delay from when i would press on the gas and when it would actually go. and yesterday, i was at a stop light waiting to turn and when i pressed on the gas to go it suddenly died, and refused to start. had it towed to a friends house close by, 8 hours later i unhooked the fuel line from the fuel filter to see if the fuel pump was working and it did. so i put the line back on and started it, and it started u fine, drove it halfway home stopped at the store and then it refused to start again. then i had it towed home. the next morning it stared up fine, turned it off and kept starting it, it sounded like it was struggiling to start but it did start every single time. went to work with a different car. now its the afternoon, and it had a hard time starting and now it refuses to start again. it seems like it cant start when the engine is hot but im not sure! any suggestions anyone?? Mahalo

  • Answer:

if by refuses to start you mean the engine will not even attempt to turn over then either a bad connection to the starter or MOST likely the starter is just going bad.
