After installing an aftermarket radio my cars stereo shorted out and nothing works now. WHAT DO I DO?

  • It was working fine for, then i took it out and put the dash back together and put the radio back in then it shorted and now the radio speakers and antenna (power) dont work. Can i go to a car place and have them find the short or what? please help me im lost and dont have much money for a big fix. Thanks alot.

First thing you should do is check the fuse box. Usually it will be in the drivers side footwell but sometimes they are under the hood. Find the fuse that says "radio" and check to make sure it isn't blown.

Leave it to the professionals. instead of paying 40-50 bucks for installation you've might of cost yourself a lot more, when u deal with anything electrical. especially in your car. That is unless you are a professional, then im sorry.

Take the dash out and find the fuse to the stereo see if you blew that then if its ok try to track down the new wires and see which one is bare cause it might be hitting metal and causing it to fry....most stereos have a fuse to blow b4 the main piece goes.....plus look in the fuse box of the car itself to see if you blew any fuses there ....if none of that works then expect to pay a pretty penny ot a stereo shop
