Where is the 2002 Nissan Altima speed sensor located?

Nissan Altima speed sensor?

  • My father has a 2005 nissan altima 2.5L. The check engine light turned on recently so he hooked up a scanner to it to get the codes. the codes read: P0725 (Speed sensor) P0335 (Crankshaft position sensor) We don't want to take it to the dealership and spend a lot of money if its a cheap do-it-your-self fix. Does anyone know where the sensors are, and how to replace them. if possible. any special tools we'll need. really appreciate any help, thanks

  • Answer:

i cant speak for the speed sensor but i can tell you about crankshaft sensirs but let me say nissan IS a foreign brand but the altima is assembled in america, therefore it is an american car i own a 2003 nissan altima (same generation as you) and these cars are known for crankshaft problems and if you dont fix it your car may stall out on the highway (which can be deadly by the way) crank sensors i believe go for about $70 to $80 so they arent totally expensive so that you may be looking at a cheap fix, even if you do take it to a dealership also just to be safe have your catalytic converter looked at, 3rd gen altimas like ours, the pre cats in the 2.5 liter engine are known for going bad and can lead up to you needing a new engine if your car has under 80k miles (by law cats are covered for 80k miles) your local nissan dealer will replace it and the engine (if needbe) for free. they will charge you however for the crank and cam sensors. as far as speed sensors go...i've got nothin go to carpartswholesale.com they've got excellent prices on parts for cars, thats where i got my brake discs and pads from and it was less then $100 for all the parts

i will tell you this once and only once.....Nissans are far different than American made cars....Nissan is a foreign car...wires are crossed and positioned differently...if i were you i would take it in and get an estimate...and ask do you really need this or what ever....if you think ur being ripped off...then find another shop that specializes on Nissans...if i were you i would not just go around yanking and un-plugging and plugging in things that i dnt knw about......thats just me...if you wanna go and mess around with it...try searching this on google or bing
