Cruise control won't work?

Please help 2001 maxima cruise control won't work? (with more info)?

  • its a 20th ae. the cruise control worked fine until like 6mo's ago it just stopped working.i checked all fuses on it and their all fine not sure weather their any relays involved it it. when i hit the cruise on/off button the "Cruise" light lites up and when i hit set nothing happens , the car was going over 30mph OK TODAY I JUST HAD THE CRUISE ON(ready) STILL NOTHING WHEN I HIT THE SET BUTTON BUT WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING THE "SET" LIGHT STARTS TO BLINK AND STOPS BLINKING FOR FEW SECONDS WHEN I PRESS ANY CRUISE CONTROL SWITCHES ALSO THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE WORKING, I HAD LED'S ON MY TAILS SO I PUT A LOAD EQUALISER ONT HEM AND STILL DIDNT WORK SO I PUT THE OLD BULBS BACK AND ITS STILL THE SAME. AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKED AFTER WITHT HE LED TAIL LIGHTS SO IT CAN'T BE IT

    99% of the time it's the combination switch (the column switch assembly that houses the turn signal stalk and the headlight stalk). They're not designed extremely well. If it's the stalk, it's about an hour long job yourself to change it out, and the part is about $158 new. You do have to deal with the airbag though (the steering wheel has to come off), so if you dont know how to do it, it may be better to have it done by a shop.
