1987 Maxima is a front wheel drive car that had many issues leaky fuel injectors, recalls and because of the car's age it was not air bagged or very crashworthy. Electric seat belts remember always need the manual lap belt fastened. Good Luck

I would have thought it would be front wheel drive but if you really are that interested then you could lay on the floor and have a look at the back. If you can see driveshafts coming from the rear wheels into a central differential, and a propshaft from that to the front of the vehicle, then it would be rear wheel drive.
