Answer:
I just bought a 06 nissan maxima fully loaded used. I have had it for 4 months now and its been reliable and doesn't waste much gas i get 20 city 30 highway. I am 17 years old and have my own job and am paying my insurance which is about 1400 a year and pay 300 a month for the car. I love all the looks i get at school everyone has toyota and honda and i have a nice nissan its reliable i did my research before i bought my car you could also check maxima.org its a community for maxima owners you can find research and ask questions you might have. Overall its a great first car and it was my first car and im loving it premium fuel is recommended but not required. If you have any other questions check maxima.org my username here is liljr415. Hope you go for it and buy the car you wont regret it. Good Luck

depends on who is paying bills.... 1 not a good gas mileage car 2 not a cheap car to insure [to fast,,stolen often, wrecked often] check first before u buy...ins, may cost DOUBLE what a civic costs [no joke] but fast fun,,,all comes to $...its a high cost compared to economy type cars....

A Nissan or Toyota would be a nice first car. They are reliable for the most part and the parts for them are not too bad in most cases. The Maxima is a very decent car. They ride nice, have great gas millage, and believe it or not they can zip out into traffic quickly if need be. Al ot of people are going to hate me for saying this but stay away from American cars for the moment. They don't have the quality of most Japanese or German cars and with the Economy in the state its in and what I have seen happen to the major US car companies, it does not look good. From my experience in the automotive parts industry for 4 years I can tell you I certainly believe that Toyota is in fact the most reliable affordable car company around.

Its an expensive car, but you already knew that. It will be expensive for a 16 year old male driver because well the car is a rocket. Check consumer reports for the reliability, its a good car that should last. There is a possibility that it takes premium fuel but don't quote me on that. Overall its a good car that if I would have had the opportunity to get for my first car I would have gotten a maxima over the mercedes I got.

Nissan is not a dependable car and the Maxima has had it's share of issues, especially with transmissions, ($$$). You'd be better off with a used Honda Accord or Civic.

Solid car. Not the MOST reliable, but it isn't unreliable either. Rides good, and has nice luxuries. Good first car.
