How to get more miles per gallon out of a Nissan Armada?
-
Who knows how to get more miles per gallon out of my 2005 Nissan Armada 5.7 V8. Bought this car for the wife 4 years ago, love the room and size, but even with lower gas prices would love to improve MPG. Dont know if fancy air filters or other add ons make a difference

Answer:
yikes well a V8 isn't going to get good MPG no matter what but if it has a tachometer then you can watch it and keep the engine under 2500rpm that will give you a pretty good improvement since it will help you keep from excelerating too fast so you will wast less gas also you could look up "hypermiling" on google there might be more info on other ways to get more MPGs out of a V8 good luck and great job on trying to save gas :-D

A cold air intake and exhaust will not improve your miles per gallon. "Cold Air" intakes do NOTHING - just because it's a metal pipe doesn't make it suck in "cold air" [who the F*CK thought of this??] and the factory intake pipe is good enough - , and ... god I will not even go into WHY an exhaust won't do anything. You'll spend $500 on crap that won't even help you. That's $500 worth of gas right there. You will waste potential gas money if you do that. And OUCH. 5.7 V8 holy crap. Driving habits will be best for you : 1. Don't use the AC. 2. Always keep the windows rolled up. Less wind resistance. 3. Keep your tires inflated to a good pressure. 4. Don't accelerate too quickly, and during heavy traffic (on the freeways) learn not to accelerate to tail the car in front of you... just let go of the brake [even if the car is a couple of cars ahead] and roll to him/her because you're going to have to stop anyways. 5. If there is a red light ahead, take your foot off of the gas. 6. Keep top-mounted items off (such as bikes or surfboards). Less air resistance. That's pretty much all I could think of for now. Good driving habits will save you gas and your brake pads will last longer. :D
nissan is known for reliability and longevity . mileage has never been strong point You will find by talking to other owners that the mileage varies little between the v-6 and v-8 models you'll get tons more power thought
