Can I swap a 300zx tt into a 300zx 2+2?

Swap a 300zx tt engine into my 300zx non turbo?

  • I drive a 93 Nissan 300zx non turbo and I want to swap the twin turbo engine into it. What all would I need to do/change in order to do the swap?

  • Answer:

To answer your question you will need this... Motor harness (unless you run a boost controller) Complete Twin Turbo Motor (Including turbos and manifolds) ECU (Computer) Intercooler Piping Intercoolers Intercooler mounts Oil Cooler (Oem or aftermarket TT unit) Radiator (TT ones are smaller to fit between the intercooler pipes) You will need to reuse your non turbo power steering pump because you don't have HICAS on your n/a A/C condenser (TT is smaller to clear the intercooler pipes) A/C lines (TT's are different) TT front bumper or aftermarket one (For intercooler holes/slots) You can reuse your n/a 5 speed but you will have to shim your starter and grind the flywheel housing a little That's about it... Good luck!!

No you just cannot install turbos onto a non turbo motor and make it work well. NA motor compression ratio is to high. Next you better have an entire car to get parts off of. Radiator is different A/C condenser boost pipes inter coolers different front bumper with slits. Turbo has a larger flywheel and clutch turbo uses a vacuum booster on the clutch too. The NA and Turbo cars have about a thousand parts that are different. Also every-time I do a TT swap the owner gets carried away when they do the job 400 hp on stock mechanicals is about all you should do. Most owners crank up the boost and blow up the stock TT motor. So in for about $10,000 already they purchase a 14 to 17 psi boost crate motor spend another $15,000 then they have around 500 hp and break the differential. With power the car soon needs bigger brakes and wheels fender flairs and suspension another 10 to 15 thousand and so it go's. Good Luck

Ok, first of all, expect to spend at least $2,000 to complete the swap. This is if you do the work yourself. You'll spend more on additional mods to make the car run better. Don't swap the Twin turbo engine in and call it a day. Replace all the gaskets, hoses water pump and timing belt in the TT engine you're going to use. By doing this, it serves as insurance and saves time since those things will go out eventually on a used engine. As you know, working on a 300zx with the engine in the car is a task. You could also upgrade your head studs or head gasket as well. These mods make the engine more durable to boost. Next, you'll have to deal with the wiring harness. Another thing to consider is to upgrade the clutch. I'm not sure how much power the non turbo transmission can hold, but it will get you by, if you didn't get a complete engine set from a turbo model I covered the essentials, but to get a more detailed instructions, go on a 300zx web forum.

why dont you just take the turbo from the tt engine and put it in your non tt car... easy day
