2005 Saab 9-3 rattle noise in front end?

I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder which has a noise like a spring sqeak in the front end.?

  • I have taken it to a Nissan Dealership several times for them to say they can't find anything wrong...they don't even hear the noise. I can hear it with or without a radio playing...and I'm not a technician.

  • Answer:

I can understand your frustration. I am a Vehicle Technician and have taken vehicles on road test with a described fault and nothing is apparent. I suggest you go on a road test with a mechanic with you driving and when the noise starts say so. Your description may not be what the mechanic is expecting to hear or can hear. Front end noises are difficult as there are so many moving parts. Likely fault based on your description - like a spring squeak - is probably a shock absorber. If the occurrence is while turning it could be any of the bushes. Sway bar - anti roll bar - bushes are particularly prone to squeaking with a slight body roll. Good luck and please do not get frustrated with your mechanic he wants your vehicle to be right for you - really. With bushes squeaking just finding the fault can cost as much as a repair. The fault is obviously not considered a safety issue so has been left to develop - I know annoying but they are trying to save you money.
