How do I replace a pot light bulb?

How to replace tail light bulb in 2000 Galant?

  • I cannot figure how to replace the passenger side tail-light bulb in my 2000 Galant. When I go in from the trunk, there is only one bulb that can be replaced from there and it is not the one that's blown. How do I get to the other bulbs? Please help.

  • Answer:

Make sure that bulb doesn't have more than one filament, used for more than on function like brakes and turn signals. Some times these bulbs are called double contact bulbs. If that doesn't help, look further along the trunk, behind the carpet you pulled back and look for more screws, or plastic nuts, wing nuts. Take those off and pull the whole assembly and look for another plug. If that doesn't help, use a cheap test light and check for power to whatever plugs you find. Be sure lights, signals, which ever light is not working is on. If no power, check fuses.

Other answers

You have one bulb for the tail light and brake lights. You have to pull back the trunk covering and you'll see 4 nuts which hold the tail light/brake light assembly. Remove these nuts, pull assembly out and you can get to bulb and change. The bulb will have a number, get the same bulb, at most auto stores. Re-install and test for proper operation.
