How do you remove a stereo from a 1996 mercedes-benz c220?

  • We put a jumper with the wrong switches and our radio burned. Now we want to take out the radio to repair it but we don't know how! And by the way we got a new car batterey, if that helps. By the way I'm a girl! Thanks

  • Answer:

You need a pair of the radio release tools to get the radio out. This is designed into the radio for theft security reasons. You can try to buy them from a Benz dealer but they may not sell that tool to you because of, again, security reasons. If they won't sell you the tool, you can ask the service dept. to pull out the radio for you. It takes, quite literally, about 10-15 seconds to pull out the radio with the proper tool. You will also need to have the theft code for the radio. This needs to be put in to the radio every time the power is cut (such as replacing the battery or disconnecting the radio from the power supply ). If you do not have this, ask your Benz dealer at the same time (with your copy of the ownership) for the code and they can quickly look that up for as well. By the way, I'm a boy!
