What type of paintballs to use?

Rx7 FD Series 8 - 13b Rotor Engine Oil Type use?

  • Hi i currently have a 2002 Mazda Rx7, i use a mineral based oil in the engine which is what rotor engines are suppossed to use, i have heard that although mineral oil is good for rotor engines, the turbo suffers greatly from the mineral oil. I read on a forum which i cannot remember the name of now that the Japanese created a special type of Synthetic oil which was made without specific additives specially made for the Rotor engine, does anyone know if this is true? If so, could anyone please provide me with model and make of this type of oil. Also details on whether this type of oil is really better than the mineral based oil, or any extra advice on the type of oil use in the 13b engine. Thanks guys in advanced, mostly appreciated.

  • Answer:

You're probably talking about Idemitsu synthetic oil, which can sometimes be difficult to source. Apparently some racing motorcycle shops carry it. You should be able to find source info at: http://www.rx7club.com http://www.rx8club.com Both forums have had extensive discussion re: synth oils in Rotary's, so just hit the search feature. Also, I'd recommend looking here: http://www.jhbperformance.com/ They have a system to allow you to separate your motor oil supply from your oil injection supply. This will allow you to run synthetic 2-stroke oil to your Oil Metering Pump, which provides a much cleaner burn of injected oil, and since the oil isn't run in the motor it is a clean supply. Then there are no worries about running synthetic 4-stroke oils in the motor as it is no longer being used by the OMP to inject into the motor. Additional Response: Keep the synthetic oil in the oil pan. It will lube the eccentric shaft better and it's also the oil supply for the turbo. Synthetic oil is much better for the turbo as its higher boil-off point prevents coke and ash formation in the turbo's bearings, which means much longer turbo life. The Idemitsu (or other 2 cycle oils) are what you want injected by the OMP. This feeds oil directly into the combustion chamber to lubricate the apex and side seals on the rotors.
