What HID kit do I need for a 99 Civic?

Do I need a relay kit for 55W HID kit for my 2009 Mazda 6?

  • I have a 2009 Mazda 6 i Touring. I want to install 55W HID kit slim ballast and was wondering if I need relay kit. The OEM low beams are 55W halogen bulbs. I am afraid I am going to have power issue. Please let me know.

  • Answer:

a relay is recommended when you are installing a 55 watt HID kit because its too much for your car to handle. I know both HID kit is 55watts and the OEM halogen bulb but the halogen bulb doesn't put out too much as the HID lights do. here is our universal relay that will fit on any HID KIT http://ultrahid.com/hid-relay.html

No, but you will have a legal issue. That kit is not DOT approved for road use. No HID kit in a Halogen housing is legal for road use. You need to do a retrofit or get HID housings unless you want fix-it tickets for illegal amounts of glare. http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/rulings/glare.html http://www.theretrofitsource.com/
