How much should i pay for a mazda rx8?

Mazda RX8 Tax?

  • Mazda RX8 has a 1.4 rotary engine, so do you only pay tax for a 1.4 engine or does the government find a way to charge extra cause its a flying machine?

  • Answer:

New cars nowadays are taxed based on CO2 emissions. Although the RX8 has a 1308cc engine (low power) its emissions is very high (CO2 = 267g/km). Its slightly higher than a Porsche 911 carrera 3596cc engine and exactly the same as the BMW 6 series 650i. If the car is registered after March 2006 it will be classed as BAND G which is about £300 a year. Please note this is for manual transmission cars only.

If you think a Mazda RX8 can fly you need a drug test.

Rotary engines are commonly used for light aircraft, so I'm guessing that is where the 'flying' reference comes from. As for taxes, that will be based on whatever your local governments feel like taxing you. The small 1.3 litre engine *may* save some taxes if they are charged based on displacement, but this may be offset if they charge based on fuel economy ratings. Rotaries do not get very good fuel mileage. Chris...
