Street skating setup help?

Exploring the thought of nitrous on my turbo setup, any resources?

  • I have the 06 Mazdaspeed6, It has a turbo setup on the stock 15 and change pound of boost pressure. I have seen the Cobb tuning and various accessories that can help the vehicles power-band. However, I was wanting to look into a direct port nitrous setup. Also, if anyone has any experience with CryO2 intercooler sprayer, how well do they help your vehicle? My modifications as of now are the Mazda CAI, 3in downpipe (no cats), 2.5 in Magnaflow cat-back (this keeps me from being pulled over). I don't feel higher boost pressure would be a good idea unless precise tuning has taken place, not just the factory presets for generic modifying found in your Cobb tuner, raising the risk for engine damage. Same goes for nitrous, however I wonder if anyone has had success and reliability for track/street cars with a factory turbo setup having nitrous. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Sure! People do it all the time. The key is to pull about 1 degree of timing for every 25hp of nitrous. The problem though, is most people who use nitrous on turbocharged cars, only use it at low to mid rpms, to help spool the turbo, because the increased cylinder pressures from nitrous compounded by a turbo can be a very bad combination. The best suggestion I could make, would be to get it professionally dyno tuned. From my research, there is quite a bit of power to be unlocked from that engine from tuning only.
