What Birth control is safe and works?

How long until birth control works?

  • Ive been using birth control for about 6 months. i just had my period and started birth control again, but about 4 days after i started the birth control again i had sex without a condom. could i be pregnant? what are the chances of it, do i have to use a condom at the beganning of the birth control?

  • Answer:

Though most birth control methods are not 100%, I'm sure you're not pregnant. You've been on bc for 6 months, so it is actively in your system as long as you are taking it around the same time everyday and have no missed more than one pill.

Other answers

Doctors usually tell you to wait one month after starting birth control to have sex without any other kind of protection. You are well past that, and as long as you have been taking your pills correctly, your pregnancy risk is very low.
