General passport application question?

Question about my passport application?

• im an american citizen applying for a passport so I can travel out of states, on the form I was given for first time passport, it has a spot to fill out both of my parents information, mind you im 24 years old, is it really necessary that I have to fill out their information as well? or is this something I can just leave blank?

  If you know your parents, then you will have to fill this out. If you are an orphan and don't know who your parents are, then write "unknown." I'm 54 and both of my parents are long dead, yet I still had to tell them my mother's maiden name. The U.S. government must be 100% sure that you are a U.S. citizen and that you are who you claim you are, as having a U.S passport is undisputed proof that you are a U.S. citizen. They don't like to have even the slightest doubt. Some of the information may be needed to confirm that you are indeed the person your passport says you are, if you are butt naked, go to the U.S. consulate in the Philippines after you had a full body massage with happy ending from a 13 year-old Filipina and when you wanted to get dressed again, found out that your wallet had been stolen. Understand that getting a passport is not a right, but a privilege. So if you give the U.S. Department of State any false information, they may refuse you a passport.
