Crashed my lexus RX300. How much to fix a bumper?

Has anyone ever had problems with their Lexus RX300 (or another model) - especially with their transmission?

  • Just wanted to see how many people here have had problems with their Lexus RX300's (or another model) - particularly with their transmissions... It would seem to me that this company has been selling faulty and flawed products to their customers for some time now. (Since 2000, at least!) What disgusts, sickens, and angers me is that Lexus has offered no substantial solution to the problem. Instead, they have continued to produce shoddy cars with faulty transmissions (and other such problems) and have relied/depend on the customer to pay for the costly repairs when the vehicle breaks down at an early stage of its life. I say no more to this shoddy practice! I say that the customers need to stand up and have their voices heard! (And stop paying for early repairs that they shouldn't have to be paying for in the first place!) Here are just a few (of the many) websites I found that detail some of the many problems that Lexus owners have to face.. http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f111d9c/0 http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28020 http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/lexus/rx300/r79737/comments/ http://www.edmunds.com/lexus/rx300/2000/discussion.html This is not right and this is not fair! This company deserves a swift kick in the **** - and sell products that their customers can depend on. That's why I say if you have ever had any problems with your Lexus RX300 (or any other model) - you should report them to the "Office of Defects Investigation Department" immediately! Here is their site: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/index.cfm And here is where you can file a complain: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

  • Answer:

Sorry to go off on a rant here but this is absolutely correct in reference to the RX300 from years 1999 through 2001. Lexus has shamefully buried their heads in the sand with this problem. Honestly I can understand they would lose a bunch of money if they offered to replace the transmission in every RX300, but they should be concerned about the safety of this issue. My RX300 transmission while I was driving down the road, thank God I wasn't on a busy highway. Death(s) as result of the faulty transmission should not be the deciding factor IF Lexus wants to fix the problem. They should be taking preventive measures not only to keep people safe while riding around in their product but also keep their customers loyal. I've already filed my complaint with nhtsa. Thank you for posting the link.

Yes the tranmissions are less than ideal from the 1999 to 2001 rx300, hence why they changed it for the following years. The newer models are rock solid. They have learned from past mistakes and fixed the problem. I dont see what you stand to gain from complaining about it. there is no way they are going to replace parts for a 10 year old car under warranty. But if you are a loyal lexus customer and your tranmission wears out prematurely Lexus will more than likely goodwill the replacement of the transmission. If you think lexus is bad you should take a look around the rest of the auto industry if you really want something to complain about, there is far worse out there.
