How do you remove the tumbler and switch of a 95' Jeep Wrangler when you are trying to replace the Ignition?

If you do need to remove the key assembly, once you get down to the lock plate there is a circlip. Push the lock plate in and pop the circlip off. The lock plate and horn switch will slide off, be careful not to lose the spring and plastic rod for the horn switch they like to pop out. Remove four screws holding the turn signal assembly in place. One screw holds a little arm that connects the lever to the switch assembly. Pull the arm out and set it aside with the screw. If you can't see the lock cylinder by gently pulling the switch assembly up, you'll need to drop the column and remove the wiring harness connectors from the column. This may involve removing the support bracket that the wires run beneath. You may have enough slack that you don't need to remove the bracket. Once you can see the cylinder inside the column, grab a small flat head screwdriver. There will be a gray button about 1/2"x1/16". Push it in with the screw driver and pull the cylinder assembly out. Installation is the opposite.

To remove the tumbler(lock Cly where you put the key) you need to pull the steering wheel and the lock plate etc to release the Cly. The ignition switch is on the top of the column underneath the dash. You may need to drop the column from the bottom of the dash to replace it. You don't have to remove the lock Cly to replace the ignition switch..........md

remove shroud, turn key, push in retainer, remove, replace. no key, call a locksmith.
