What is a good price for a 2005? Jeep Wrangler?

What should the price range be to lift a 2005 Jeep Wrangler?

  • My husband really wants to lift our Jeep. What do you think about a 1 inch body lift and a 3 inch suspension lift? We go offroading a lot and want to put larger tires on the Jeep. In Southern California, how much should that run. What size tires should we go with? This is an everyday driver as well, so we don't want anything ridiculous. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Go with the 4" lift, Here is one thing to consider, lift kits have very stiff suspension, if you like the way it drives now, you could go with a 2" lift and it is very inexpensive. With that being said, stay with 32" tires, any larger and you will rub and you WILL have to redo your ring and pinons. Even with 32" tires you won't like the way it drives on the freeway and your gas mileage will go down to 15/16 MPG on the freeway (I kept my orginal tires for long freeway trips and get 20/21 MPG at 60 MPH). A 4" lift with disconnects should be under a grand installed.

if your only going to lift the body 1". i'd say it would be better to just buy a 4" suspension. the body lift is going to be more work than it's worth for just one inch of lift. and if you going to pay someone to do it, it would be cheaper to just have a 4" suspension lift. not to mention you might run into problems with the steering column, transfer case shifter or transmission shift linkage. in NC it's like 60 per hour for a mechanic to install a lift and it would probably take 4-6 hours to install. 240-360 just for the installation.

A 1"body and 3" suspension is ideal 33" tires. For a daily driver I would recommend an Old Man Emu kit!!! This kit performs much better off-road and is said to have a better on road ride the stock! These kits only come in 2" though. So you could combine that with 1" body and fit 32's This kit will run close to $800. As far as installation I really don’t know what that would run you... you can always DIY... this is a complete replacement... there will be no cutting or welding involved so the install is straight forward!
