2005 Saab 9-3 rattle noise in front end?

Jeep Liberty front-end clunking noise?

  • I have a 2004 Jeep Liberty with an intermittent problem. When I drive over a bump which causes the front of the vehicle to compress, at times I can here soft to loud clunking noise. The noise appears to happen on the downside of the bump when the pressure on the front end is released. I have never been able to reproduce the noise by jumping on the front end while parked in the driveway. I have taken the vehicle in three times to three different locations with no success. I took it to the dealer, a front-end specialist and a general mechanic. The noise has been happening for over a year now, and there will be times when I do not hear the noise for a month then one day it will come back. I spoke to the dealership when I had the ball joints replaced. They said that the replacement would fix the noise. Ummm, no. Any suggestions? Regards, Sudden Stops Hurt

  • Answer:

do you have hub caps? when you bounce on the front of the jeep the only thing that is not moving as it would be on the road is your front axle. Check for loose wheels, caps, stones on your axle and ect... you may have to wait until you can make the sound each time before you find it.
