How do I fix Cydia's problem with refreshing?

I need a diagnosis for a seemingly easy problem with my 92 Jeep Cherokee. How do I fix the electrical problem?

  • I have a 4.0L engine and the CHECK ENGINE light came on yesterday. Shortly afterward the Battery light came on. I checked the belt and it is fine. I tested the battery with a VOM and it was at 12.2 volts with the engine off and 11.95 volts with the engine running. When I sped up the engine, the voltage dropped. After about 5 minutes the battery light comes on, but if i turn off the engine and start it again, the battery light will be off for another 5 minutes. Is this a problem with the ECM/PCM or is it just a bad alternator/voltage regulator? I don't want to just throw money at it, since it IS just after Christmas and I don't have a lot of money to throw at it anyway. The easy fix would be the wire harness between the alternator and the battery....or a reman alternator.....the more expensive fix would be the PCM. If the latter is the case, I will replace the car before I fix that. What say ye?

  • Answer:

well you shold be reading 13.5 to 14.5 volts with the car on so ur battery isnt being charged by the alternator you will have to replace it ....should fix it
