How to programmatically turn on Shift key when spacebar is pressed in UITextField?

I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee. Why can I move the gear shift out of park w/o keys in or brake pressed?

• My jeep is a 2wd. I had it in park and keys removed. I was outside the vehicle removing groceries, when my 7 year old grandson jumped from the back to the front passenger side seat and in a blink of an eye moved it out of park. It nearly ran over me. I have tested it several times and the keys nor pressing the brake is required to move it out of park. You do have to press the button on the gear shift, but that is all. I have tested several other vehicles (not jeeps) and you cannot shift them out of park without the keys in or the brake pedal on. Is this a problem with the Jeep? I could use some input on this one.

  That is a safety feature that needs to be looked at! I would take it to your local dealer and have them repair it, or at least check with them if there is a recall on it. I have had mine recalled on the 1998 Jeep GC and replaced for no cost!! Get this checked as soon as possible you should need to have the brake pushed in at least.
